Hi crafty friends! Waffle Flower is releasing Grip Mats V.2 today and introducing two new sizes! These V2 Grip Mats are stickier (yay! Better grip!) and the grid sheets are sized smaller than the mats so it will grip your surface easily. I had a chance to play with the two new sizes that Waffle Flower kindly sent to try out, but all opinions are my own! So here we go!
My first card is a card using the WF postage collage die, stencils, and stamps, as well as stamps from Hello Sweetums (no longer in business, sad!) because I needed a retirement card and these stamps were the only retirement-ish stamps I have. I used the new BIG grip mat (sized 7.5"x11") to hold my stencil in place as well as my ink pads! The big size is awesome for this! If you are using a half letter sized paper, this big grip mat will comfortably hold that sized paper.
One word of warning: When you first receive your grip mat and peel off the protective plastic, it will be very difficult to remove. You need to use some muscle to get the plastic off! But after you use the grip mat, removing the plastic will be easier.
I used the smallest grip mat, the 4"x4" size mat for my second card. This get well card features the WF butterfly and daisy stencil, butterfly shaker dies, enamel dots, and Print and Script Get Well dies. It is a really cute and small size that worked well with the small stencil. It can hold a single ink pad and worked well in my messy craft space-- easy to fit in the crafty chaos of my desk! haha!
Honest opinion: 99.999% of my stencils are larger than this 4"x4" size so I don't see myself reaching for this grip mat when I am stenciling. I can see myself using it for smaller ink blending jobs, like inking up small die cuts, and maybe for holding one ink pad (but when I am ink blending, I am usually using more than 1 ink pad, so even then this size mat will not be so useful to me for that purpose). I like how the small size will allow me to use it without having to clean up half my desk just to use it 😂
