Waffle Flower was so kind to send me some of their new grip mats to try out. I will share with you a card I made and my honest opinion about them. I also attempted to make a video for this card to share the new grip mats and you can check it out on my YouTube channel! I made a quick video earlier that shows mirror stamping with the grip mat. Today's video demonstrates stenciling with the grip mat.
I really liked using the grip mat for stenciling because I did not have to use washi tape to hold down my stencil. One downside was that it did not grip my paper well--I believe it is because I used a texture die on it so the back was not smooth. After the making of my video, I did have the chance to stencil on plain cardstock and the grip mat stuck to plain, smooth cardstock much better.
Waffle Flower has some videos that explain how to use the mats and also the different sizes available and what would suit your needs. I use a Stamparatus stamping platform and it has a 7" square base, so none of the WF grip mats are sized exactly to that. But I think their 6" square mat would work best with the Stamparatus. The good thing is that MISTI users can pick the mat that is sized perfectly because they designed the mats specifically for that. And for anyone with the Waffle Flower media mats, they have grip mats sized for those too! I was able to use the 6.5"x8.5" mat easily on top of my silicone craft mat so even if it doesn't fit your particular stamping platform, you can still use it on a flat surface.
