Waffle Flower Alcohol Inked Hearts Card

Hi crafty friends! My final card for my Waffle Flower November release involves a new technique for me-- alcohol inks! Why I chose to try something new for such a big guest design spot is beyond me because it could have gone horribly wrong (and there were definitely some trashed attempts haha!). But I have always wanted to try alcohol inks because I loooove the look of everyone else's alcohol inked creations so this was a perfect excuse to give it a whirl.

I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks in flamingo, dandelion, and mermaid on Yupo paper because you can't go wrong with creating a rainbow color palette! Then I used the new Outlined Hearts Die and cut out the hearts. (I saved the outline to create another card with it so I can get TWO cards out of my inked Yupo paper, woohoo!) Then I layered several white cardstock heart outlines for dimension.

For the background, I applied opaque texture paste through the Tiny Dot stencil onto vellum. Another new thing for me is working with this much vellum on a card. Looking back, I glued things together in the wrong order and ended up with a slight wrinkle in my vellum background (don't look too closely at the picture!). So I am going to write down what SHOULD be the correct order of assembling this card! First, glue the vellum background onto the kraft cardbase by applying glue only on the back of the texture paste dots.  Let it dry completely with a heavy object on top to prevent wrinkles (ha!). Then, glue the heart outline and alcohol inked hearts to the vellum. The sentiment was stamped from the WF Oversized Heart stamp combo set.

Thank you for stopping by today! Make sure you're entered in the Waffle Flower new release blog hop by TOMORROW 11:59 PM EST for a chance to win a prize! Have a lovely day!
